The too good program
Welcome to SAFE for Lake County’s Too Good resource hub! We believe that building strong, resilient, and drug-free futures starts at home. To support our community, we are proud to offer the evidence-based Too Good prevention program for three distinct youth age groups, Early Elementary, Upper Elementary and Middle School.
By making these specialized home workouts and lesson plans available directly on our website, we are bringing proven life-skills education straight to your home for free.
What is it?
Developed by the Mendez Foundation, Too Good is a nationally recognized, evidence-based prevention curriculum. Rather than just teaching kids “what not to do,” Too Good focuses on giving children the social-emotional tools they need to make healthy choices, resist peer pressure, and navigate difficult developmental milestones
Supported age groups & lesson worksheets
We have tailored our downloadable at-home worksheets into three critical developmental tiers.
Early Elementary (2nd Grade)
Focuses on foundational skills like identifying feelings, creating healthy habits, & decision-making. They build these skills with interactive activities and lessons.
Upper Elementary (5th Grade)
Prepares students for the transition to middle school, focusing heavily on managing emotions, peer pressure refusal strategies, and effective communication.
Middle School (7th Grade)
Prepares students for the transition to middle school, focusing heavily on managing emotions, peer pressure refusal strategies, and effective communication.
what will you get out of the lessons?
Completing these interactive, home workouts transforms prevention education into a shared family experience.
For the Kids: Core Life Skills
Through engaging activities, scenarios, and role-plays, kids will build 5 essential social-emotional competencies:
Goal Setting: How to set and reach personal, positive goals.
Decision Making: Pausing to think through consequences before acting.
Managing Emotions: Identifying and healthily processing stress, anger, and anxiety.
Effective Communication: Expressing themselves clearly and listening actively.
Prosocial Bonding: Building positive, supportive friendships and safely resisting negative peer pressure.
For the Parents: Active Prevention Partners
Open Channels of Communication: These worksheets give you a natural, non-awkward gateway to talk about tough subjects like alcohol, nicotine, and peer pressure.
A Supportive Environment: You’ll learn the exact phrasing and techniques your child is taught, allowing you to reinforce positive decision-making in real-time.
Convenience: Work through the lessons at your family’s own pace—whether that’s one lesson a week or a quick activity over the weekend.
